Pro/Celeb Showjumping Classic

WOW!  What a glittering night we had at the Treo Eile Pro-Celebrity Thoroughbred Classic.

Leading jockeys, former jockeys, Olympian eventers and top young riders teamed up to compete for the coveted title in our inaugural challenge, held in JAG Equestrian Centre.

The evening began with the Moyglare Parade of Champions which featured a host of the racetrack’s former stars including Faugheen and Douvan, alongside Thousand Stars and Grand National winner, General Principle.

Racing TV’s Kevin O’Ryan joined Brendan McArdle as MC with renowned Chris Ryan in the commentary box.

The fundraiser was to showcase thoroughbred racehorses potential as showjumpers and the 4-person teams were captained by a jockey, and included two professional riders and a junior rider (on a pony).  The competition was fierce from the outset with all riders set upon the title.  Turns and times were incredible in the super course built by the infamous Olympic course builder ‘George’.

Amazing horsemanship was shown throughout the evening, with some special jockey perfomances, but it was the all-female team, captained by Katie Walsh that took home the silverware!

Special congratulations to Katie, Sarah Wardell, Cliodhna Brennan and Lucy McCarthy on their victory.  We hope to welcome them back next year!

Huge thanks to our sponsors on the night:
