Thoroughbred Takeover – 🎄Treo Eile Christmas Show🎄

🐴Thoroughbred Takeover 🐴

With only a month left to go before the 🎄Treo Eile Christmas Show🎄 at Emerald Equestrian we thought it would be nice to catch up with one of the thoroughbreds who will be competing on the night. Seainin Mahon and General Principle are getting themselves ready for the show and will be sharing little snippets of their training in the lead up to the show.

General Principle ran 36 times, winning on 6 occasions. The biggest of those wins was the Irish Grand National in Fairyhouse in 2018.  When he finished his racing career in 2020 he started on a new career with his longtime groom Seainin who decided to go down the route of showing. In 2022 they won the Racehorse to Riding Horse class at the Royal Dublin Horse Show.  Seainin and GP have had a great season this year too, winning one of the Tattersalls Ireland Treo Eile Showing Pathway Series at Ardrahan show along with finishing fourth at the Royal Dublin Horse Show.

Seainin said:

“We are really excited to be competing at the Treo Eile Christmas Show again this year. Last year we paraded in the Moyglare Stud Parade of Champions which was great fun but we are ready to give the jumping a go this year!

I’ve been busy in work this week and with the fading light in the evenings it has been hard to get GP ridden. As you can see in the videos he is feeling well in himself as a result – we have been getting him fit on the gallops and he is supposed to be leading the babies and just trotting but he had other ideas! We have also gotten out for some hacking for a change of scenery!”

We will have more updates from Seainin and GP each week so be sure to check back in and see how they are getting prepared for the show.
