Under beautiful blue skies, with Necarne Castle as the backdrop, the fourth qualifier for the Tattersalls Ireland Treo Eile Showing Pathway Series qualifier took place at the Enniskillen Horse and Pony Show last Sunday. This was the fourth of eight qualifiers in the series which highlights Tattersalls Ireland’s continuing support for the aftercare of racehorses.
In the Novice section, it was Shauna Boyle and Balmont Flyer who took the top spot. The sixteen year old gelding by Balmont had three wins in his racing career but now resides with Shauna at Drumdoit Stables. Taking second place in the class was Eva Connolly and the newly acquired four year old Buzzen. The Gutaifan gelding ran seven times on the flat as a two and three year old.
The long journey to the north proved worthwhile for the Carolan family as Sharon and Masterson took the top spot in the open section, earning a place in the final in September. This combination finished 5th in the Novice Final last year and have made the step up into Open company with ease this year. The eleven year old gelding is a real family horse with both Sharon’s daughter Emma Jo, and her husband Nigel also competing with him regularly. Another well known combination, Mickah Wallace and Stephanie McGlynn took the runner up spot and will be hoping to go one better than their runner up finish in the final of the series last year come September. The six year old gelding has been slowly produced by McGlynn and this year have had two top six placings on the eventing circuit.
The next qualifier takes place at Clonmel Show, with further dates available on the Treo Eile website.
