Thoroughbreds once again demonstrated their versatility and excellence at two key events hosted by the Association of Irish Riding Clubs (AIRC), with standout performances in both dressage and eventing. These former racehorses, often known for their speed on the track, have proven they can excel in other disciplines as well, with impressive results at the AIRC Dressage and Eventing Championships.
The AIRC Dressage Championships took place at the prestigious Mullingar Equestrian Centre. Among the many talented horses competing, it was Bobby Cool, ridden by Liisa Rantamaki from Tara Hill Riding Club, who earned the distinction of being the highest placed thoroughbred. Scoring an outstanding 130.069%, Bobby Cool And Liisa proudly received recognition from Louise Duffy, AIRC Chairperson and thoroughbred retrainer, for their remarkable achievement.

In eventing, the championships at Killosery Lodge Stud saw another thoroughbred make its mark. Caroline O’Brien, riding her thoroughbred Champagne Sparkles, competed in the highly contested 80cm class. The pair delivered a strong, consistent performance throughout the competition, ultimately finishing in 5th place. Not only was this an impressive result in itself, but Champagne Sparkles also earned the title of the Highest Placed Thoroughbred at the event.
Both of these results highlight the continuing success and adaptability of thoroughbreds in equestrian disciplines beyond racing. Treo Eile is proud to support and celebrate these former racehorses as they continue to thrive in their second careers, showing that thoroughbreds bring more than just speed to the equestrian world—they bring talent, heart, and versatility.
