Treo Eile supporting Thoroughbreds in Dressage Ireland

Treo Eile is delighted to renew its partnership with Dressage Ireland for the 2025 competition season, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the retraining and aftercare of Thoroughbreds. This collaboration will see Treo Eile sponsoring key classes across the Dressage Ireland calendar, offering dedicated prize funds to reward the highest-placed Thoroughbreds in competition.

The sponsorship will feature prominently at major events throughout the year, including the Dressage Ireland National Winter Finals and the 2025 National Championships as well as a selection of regional summer festivals. Across these events, Treo Eile will provide prize money for Preliminary, Novice, Elementary, and Medium classes, along with additional awards for young riders (18 years and under).

The total prize fund has been increased for the 2025 season to over €3,000.  After its successful introduction to last year’s agreement, a special end-of-season award will be presented at the Dressage Ireland AGM, recognising the highest average score achieved by a Thoroughbred at each level over the course of the season. Last year’s winners included Rebecca Hayes and Hash Brown (pictured below) who recorded a double by taking both the Preliminary and Novice levels.

Treo Eile Director and Co-Founder Caoimhe Doherty commented:
“We are thrilled to partner with Dressage Ireland for the 2025 season. This sponsorship reflects our core mission to create meaningful second careers for Thoroughbreds, and dressage provides a fantastic platform to showcase their versatility and adaptability. We are excited to see Thoroughbreds excel in the dressage arena and look forward to celebrating their success.”

Dressage Ireland Chairperson Mark Ruddock added:
Dressage Ireland are delighted to be involved with Treo Eile in supporting their great cause in the vision of highlighting the versatility of the thoroughbreds after they have finished in the racing industry. I’ve worked with many thoroughbreds over the years and have always found them to be very intelligent and quick learners with a willingness to improve. The sponsorship by Treo Eile is most welcomed by Dressage Ireland and look forward to seeing them at our winter finals in April held in Castle Irvine.”

Members should note that First Time registrations of a thoroughbred with Dressage Ireland are Free of Charge – more details can be found here
