Treo Eile has joined forces with the Irish Pony Club (IPC) to sponsor a range of activities throughout 2025. This initiative, valued at €2,500 in training bursaries, aims to encourage and reward the participation of thoroughbreds in IPC events, reinforcing the importance of aftercare and continued equestrian development. Treo Eile sees the popularity and the success of the thoroughbred within the IPC and wants to encourage members on their retraining journeys.
The sponsorship will span multiple disciplines, including dressage, eventing, and showjumping, offering training bursaries and awards to IPC members competing with thoroughbreds. Notably, the partnership will support the IPC Thoroughbred Eventing League and the IPC Thoroughbred Aftercare Award, highlighting the dedication and achievements of young riders working with their thoroughbreds.

Key Highlights of the Sponsorship:
- Dressage Competitions: Recognition of the highest-scoring thoroughbreds at IPC Dressage Day (April 15) and the IPC Festival (July 23-25), with bursaries awarded for top performances.
- Eventing Championships and League: Rewards for the highest-placed thoroughbreds at major IPC eventing competitions, including the IPC Hunter Trial Championships (April 26) and the IPC Eventing Championships (August 24-25).
- Showjumping Competitions: Awards for top-performing thoroughbreds at the IPC Festival and IPC Showjumping Classic Final (September 9).
- IPC Thoroughbred Aftercare Award: Acknowledgment of IPC members who provide second careers and excellent care for retired racehorses.
“As we see an increasing number of thoroughbreds successfully transitioning into equestrian sports beyond racing, it’s vital to support and encourage their retraining,” said Anne O’Connor for Treo Eile. “This partnership with the Irish Pony Club is an exciting opportunity to recognize the dedication of young riders and the versatility of these incredible horses.”
“The Irish Pony Club are delighted that Treo Eile has once again agreed to kindly and generously sponsor the Treo Eile classes at all our championships and the ODE qualifier league with the final at the Eventing Championship” commented Ivan Hatton, Operations Manager of the Irish Pony Club. “The Treo Eile sponsorship is greatly appreciated in supporting our members who are dedicated to the retraining of these horses.”
To be eligible for prizes, thoroughbreds must be registered with Treo Eile and have a valid Weatherbys or equivalent racing authority passport.
