Treo Eile is delighted to announce its continued partnership with Eventing Ireland for 2025, further strengthening opportunities for ex-racehorses transitioning into eventing. With a €3,000 prize fund allocated to the Treo Eile Thoroughbred Eventing League and the exciting introduction of a Thoroughbred Eventing Class at Ballindenisk International in September, this year marks a significant step forward in promoting thoroughbreds within the sport.
Treo Eile Thoroughbred Eventing League – €3,000 Prize Fund
Returning for another season, the Treo Eile Thoroughbred Eventing League will once again run from March to October, rewarding the top-performing thoroughbred combinations at all levels of national competition. Using a points system compiled by EquiRatings, the league will track the top six placings of each combination throughout the season.
In 2024, the league saw an impressive victory from Amy Ennis Crosbie and Herobrine, a talented thoroughbred owned by her mother, Suzanne Ennis. Despite it being their first season together, the pair dominated the EI110 Junior class, securing three wins.

Eventing Ireland Chairman Niki Potterton commented on the launch of the sponsorship:
“We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with Treo Eile as we launch the 2025 Treo Eile Thoroughbred Eventing League. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to supporting the retraining of racehorses and the incredible work done by Treo Eile. The Treo Eile Thoroughbred Eventing League has become a cornerstone of Eventing in Ireland, and we look forward to another year of exciting competition, showcasing the incredible versatility of the Thoroughbred.”
New for 2025 – Thoroughbred Eventing Class at Ballindenisk International
A major addition to this year’s sponsorship is the introduction of a dedicated Thoroughbred Eventing Class at the prestigious Ballindenisk International Event in September. This three-day event will be run at the EI100 (1m) level, providing a platform to showcase the talent and versatility of ex-racehorses in a high-profile international setting.
The class will be open to thoroughbreds registered with Treo Eile, and entry requirements will ensure accessibility for riders from a range of backgrounds through the use of Eventing Ireland day tickets. Additional prizes will be awarded for Highest Placed Raced Thoroughbred, Highest Placed Mare, and Highest Placed U18 Rider.
“We are delighted to be hosting Ireland’s first thoroughbred-specific eventing class here at Ballindenisk,” said Ballindenisk Event Organiser Peter Fell. “This is a special year for us, as we mark 50 years in September, and given our longstanding ties to the thoroughbred industry, I believe this will be a perfect fit.”
Continued Growth for Thoroughbreds in Eventing
Thoroughbreds are continuing to gain recognition within eventing, with 74 thoroughbreds competing at national events in 2024 across all levels, from EI80 up to EI120. Commenting on the partnership, Treo Eile Director and Co-Founder Caoimhe Doherty said:
“Treo Eile is delighted to once again be joining with Eventing Ireland on supporting the thoroughbred through our TE League. We have seen the progression of many horses and combinations since the establishment of this league in 2022 and we are excited to give these partnerships another significant opportunity through our Thoroughbred EI100 class at Ballindenisk International in September.
Treo Eile alongside Eventing Ireland see the suitability of the thoroughbred to eventing and wish to highlight and reward these horses and riders through our sponsorship. We hope 2025 will be another fruitful season for everyone and we look forward to welcoming many new combinations to the thoroughbred ranks”.
With a growing number of ex-racehorses proving their talent in the sport, Treo Eile’s commitment to connecting, supporting, and promoting thoroughbreds in their second careers is stronger than ever.
