Treo Eile and Irish Polocrosse Association Announce 2025 Thoroughbred Sponsorship Partnership

Treo Eile and Irish Polocrosse Association Announce 2025 Thoroughbred Sponsorship Partnership

Treo Eile is delighted to continue its collaboration with the Irish Polocrosse Association for the 2025 season, supporting the inclusion and recognition of retired racehorses in the fast-paced, team-oriented sport of polocrosse.

Polocrosse has emerged as a dynamic second-career pathway for thoroughbreds, where their speed, agility, and responsiveness are valuable assets on the field. This year’s sponsorship programme will see Treo Eile provide dedicated support and prizes at five club tournaments, two international team events, and the Irish National Championships.

The initiative reflects Treo Eile’s mission to promote thoroughbred retraining and to provide tangible reward structures across a range of equestrian disciplines. Horses will be clearly marked with Treo Eile hip stickers at each competition, and all eligible horses must be registered with Treo Eile and have a Weatherbys (or equivalent) passport.

Supported Events – 2025 Thoroughbred Awards in Polocrosse

Throughout the summer, the following tournaments will include Best Playing Thoroughbred prizes across four categories (A, B, C, D):

  • Silverspurs Club Tournament – June 14–15, Dublin

  • Tyrella Club Tournament – June 28–29, Co. Down

  • Limerick Club Tournament – July 12–13, Limerick

Each winning thoroughbred will receive a €75 prize and Treo Eile rosette in their respective category.

Treo Eile is also proud to support two international events:

  • Irish U21 Team Touring the UK – May 30

  • International Test vs. South Africa at Horetown Club – July 25–27, Wexford

    • The Best Playing Thoroughbred for both the Irish and South African teams will receive a Treo Eile rug, gilet, baseball cap, and rosette.

 2025 National Championships

The Irish Polocrosse Association National Championships take place on August 30–31, hosted by Equus Club at Bishopsland Polo Club, Kildare.

This flagship event will see the Best Playing Thoroughbred in Categories A, B, C, and D each awarded a comprehensive prize pack including a Treo Eile rug, gilet, baseball cap, and rosette.

This event serves as a national platform to showcase the quality and progress of retrained racehorses and underlines the growing impact of thoroughbreds in the polocrosse community.

  • Be registered with Treo Eile (free at www.treoeile.com/register)
