Chloe comes from a farming background and is based near Belfast International Airport in Co Antrim. She started working with racehorses at the age of 12 in the local yard of Robert Armstrong. She has been a strong supporter of retraining ex-racehorses and would be a well known competitor throughout the show circuit in Ireland. Chloe is an ISA accredited confirmation and ride judge.
Chloe who rides out of Alistair McDonald’s yard, is probably best known for her two TB rides, Mossbank and Beechburn Lass.
Mossbank has been with her for 10 years now and in that time the pair have taken many RH2RH ribbons from local shows up to Balmoral and RDS. Mossbank has also successfully hunted, competed in dressage, side saddle and XC.
Beechburn Lass who was bred and trained by Robert Armstrong was never raced. However this mare has excelled in many unraced RH2RH classes as well as taking many Working Hunter Championships at County Shows. In 2018 Beechburn Lass won the All Ireland Thoroughbred Working Hunter Championship.
Chloe has retrained a number of ex-racehorses which have been prepared for new owners from riding schools, private ownership and even an ex-officer of the Queens Guard. She has just broken her young warmblood who has started his show career after a very successful in-hand season.
‘At home we have excellent facilities including a floodlit all weather paddock, turnout paddock and summer grazing. Our local roads are very quiet for hacking and include flat and incline roads. All together we have the perfect environment for all types of horses to excel in whatever discipline might be of choosing’
